The legendary football coach comes to the defense of Mark Thomas Brim, a friend charged with unlawful possession of a firearm on school property.

The firearm was found at Plaza Towers Elementary, 852 SW 11, Monday morning. Brim turned himself in to police, and told them he did not realize the gun was missing until he heard reports of the school's lockdown.

A warrant for Brim's arrest was issued Wednesday. Brim's concealed carry license expired, according to Moore Police.

Brim and his attorney plan to return to the District Attorney's office Oct. 23 to discuss the felony charge.

Switzer hopes the sentence is reduced to a misdemeanor.
