One shot on goal hit the crossbar and bounced away.
One goal called back after an offsides penalty.
One point-blank shot on an empty goal sailed over the net.
It was that kind of night for the Westmoore Lady Jaguars as they failed for the second straight year to lock up a district title against Mustang.
Mustang jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Jags battled back with 4 very makeable shots on goal in the first half. But fortune was looking elsewhere as the Jags missed shot after shot until Chelsea Swisher finally managed to slip one past the Bronco goalie into the left side of the net with just over 9 minutes left in the first half.
Westmoore and the undefeated Broncos played even throughout most of the second half, backed up by another stellar performance from senior goalie, Alexi Richards. Mustang scored one last goal with 13:10 left in the game for the final score.
The Jaguars will begin postseason play at home next Tuesday night against the Yukon Millers, a team they beat by a 2-0 count earlier in the season. Coach Robert Williams says tonight's loss was tough, but that the girls should be able to put it behind them and get ready for the playoffs.
Williams said, "They lost to an undefeated team. Mustang is a great team. But now it's time to get focused on what's ahead. We set a goal at the beginning of the season to be playing in the final (state championship) game and that's still out there for us."
