The Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office has reviewed the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting of Dax Buck Minor on Friday May 20th, 2011. The District Attorney’s Office has advised the Moore Police Department that force used by Sergeant Lockett and Sergeant Bentley was justified and appropriate under the law.
An administrative review by the Moore Police Department of the incident will be conducted to ensure policies were followed.
As you may remember, 30-year-old Dax Buck Minor of New Caney, Texas was shot and killed by two police officers on Friday, May 20th.
The incident began when the Moore Police Department received a report of an armed suicidal subject around 5:00 pm. Officers near SW 19th and I-35 first spotted the vehicle, attempted to pull Minor over, and a pursuit resulted lasting somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes.
Shortly after the chase ended, Minor exited his vehicle with his hand hidden beneath his clothing as if he were holding a weapon. When he disregarded officers’ commands the officers fired. Minor was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the shooting.
