Lady Lions Take Lawton Wolverines on the Softball Field

With clouds thankfully covering the summer’s merciless sun, Moore played an afternoon game against Lawton High School Monday at Moore Softball Field.

Senior Mikayla Morales pitched for the Lady Lions. Morales gave up a run in the first, but Moore allowed no runs from the Wolverines.

Lead-off hitter Caitlin Hall got things started with a nice single that rolled into left field. The inning continued to be active

Junior Caiti Hall got on base with a well placed bunt. Junior Hannah Lynch reached first on a fielder’s choice.

Lawton’s catcher made an error when Senior Rachel Manning was up to bat. That brought home Caitlin Hall. Manning’s hit to a hole out in centerfield earned her an RBI as Caiti Hall crossed the plate.

Freshman Kristen Prieto hit a single to left field, earning two RBIs as Lynch and Manning scored runs.

Sophomore Payton Bell hit a single, and Senior Haylee Crewse reached base on a Lawton error.

Back at the top of the lineup and still in the first inning, Caitlin Hall had another hit to left field and earned two RBIs when Prieto and Bell came home.

The inning closed with Moore ahead 6-0.

Moore’s defense stayed on top of things in the second as Lawton went three up, three down.

The Lady Lion’s bats stayed strong in the second. Prieto, Qiana Harrison, and Bell all had hits. Bell earned two RBIs with her hit to left center.

With the score 8-0, the game rolled into the top of the third.

Maybe it was the large lead in the heads of the Moore players, but the Lion defense wasn’t there in the top of the third. Two errors helped give Lawton three runs on the board.

Prieto hit a single in the fourth, and Crewse got one in the fifth. No more runs were scored till the sixth.

Prieto had her fourth hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman Zoey Pilcher got a hit to left center. With two runners on, Bell hit a single and earned her third and fourth RBIs of the game.

Moore won the game 10-0.
